WINMAU WORLD MASTERS 21ST OCT
after a dissapointing world pro play-off going out first round to kurt van der ryke i had to forget about it and look forward to the winmau. played luke nolan first round in the winmau and went through 3-0 in sets. i played well and it was my warm up for my big grudge game against michael van gerwin. played michael in the second round and every set went with the darts. i was playing excellent and i was finishing well. 2-2 in sets and i won my darts in 15, then michaels darts and i started with 140,140. michaels head dropped and i was able to pull away for the leg... get in. revenge is sweet
third round i played longshanks steve robertson and he went 2 sets up. i came roaring back and took the next 2 sets after steve missed one dart for the match... last set i scored really well and finished decisevly to take the match and put me through to the board final.

i was on fire scoring some excellent scores and missed one double to take the first set 2-1 and mike took out 106 for a 2-1 leg score and the first set.
second set mike won again 2-1 with him pinning some big out shots of 111,117. third set i won 2-1 with a 151 finish and some great scoring.
fourth set i started 134,174 and lost the leg, i never recovered after that and mike won the set. there was a bit of comotion going on in the fourth set that stopped us playing for 15 mins as there was a presentation of the youth on stage with music blaring out. mike refused to play until the music stopped and he wouldnt let me practice... not making excuses though...

i was happy with my performances but i knew i had to win the winmau to get my lakeside place. i was heartbroken when i lost. but i have a consolation in 6 points and this is a good start to my season. i think i will need 45 points this year so only 39 points to go... come on

BRITISH OPEN 16TH-19TH SEPT
my first game i played awesome taking a 144 checkout to win the match. second round i played good for the first 2 legs just missing a 167 and going out on 25 in 2 darts and a 135 finish on tops, but failed to hit it and found myself at 1-1. i let my head drop and he got the better of me and punished me for missed doubles...
i am upset because i have been playing well and it disapoints me when i miss my doubles. congratulations go to brian sorenson on winning the mens title and to clare bywaters on winning the ladies title. well done to michael van gerwin and anastasia dobromyslova on being runners up.

BAVARIA WORLD DARTS TROPHY
3RD-9TH SEPTEMBER
UTRECHT HOLLAND
played tony eccles in the first round of the bavaria world darts trophy and i lost 3-1. the scoreline doesnt really reflect the match, which was a lot closer and we both played excellent darts to average 30+ each. my average was 30.10 and tonys was 30.22. although i lost there was a lot of pressure on me because i knew if i won i would receive 9 points and would of been guarenteed in the lakeside, but i lost so i have to grind my teeth play good darts and hope for the best. although i lost i can come away confident with my performance as i feel that i played very well.
congratulations go to gary robson on winning the mens title and karin krappen on winning the ladies also pascal van mouric on winning the youth.

DENMARK OPEN 27TH AUGUST
the draw done me no favours as i played gary robson first round. i beat him 3-1 with no legs over 18 darts but he missed doubles to level the match at 2-2. second round i played cor eernst from holland. he was a good player and he beat me 3-1, but the pressure got to me as i knew i had to win to gain my doeland grand masters place.
in the pairs i teamed up with tony martin and we played very well. we got to the last 32 and played 2 guys from holland who beat us 3-2. are winning legs were 12 and 14.

STEVE MCNALLY QUALIFIES FOR WINMAU ALONG WITH STEPHEN BUNTING
i have qualified through my ranking where as steve mcnally has qualified through the qualifiers. he beat a ray of talented players to reach the winmau, he also qualifies for the lakeside qualifiers. congratulations steve.

HUYTON TUESDAY DARTS LEAGUE
PAIRS + INDIVIDUALS
i played with alan green in the pairs and we played great darts to retain our title. we beat mick brooks and phil brooks in the final 3-1.
in the singles i played very well to defeat last years winner paul hourihan and had a mediocre final against a very experienced 301 player ricky savage. although i won the final 3-0 to be fair ricky never took his A game to the oche.

MORE MUCH NEEDED POINTS AS I REACHED THE SEMI /FINALS OF THE NORWAY OPEN IN TONSBERG
played the norway open on the 13th-14th august and got to the semi finals. i was shaky the first two games as i knew i needed to win to get the points as the bdo tables have been changed. in the third round last 16 i played mareno michels, a talented young dutchman who has beaten me previously in the dutch open. i played extreemly well and went 2-1 up with a 121 fin. mareno won the fourth leg. last leg i went up won the darts and went out in 14 darts to take victory. in the last 8 i played a very talented left handed finnish player called marko pusa who has been on the embassy a couple of times. i went 2-1 up with a 161 finish and took the last leg in 15 darts to secure my place in the last 8. i played jarko komula another talented finish player who has appeared on the embassy for the past couple of years and i went 2-0 up with legs of 13,15. third leg i missed a 160 finish to win the match on a 12 darter and ended up finishing in 14. in the semi final i played tony martin. i never really got going and tony took full advantadge and beat me 4-0. i got 6 more ranking points, which boost me up the ranking tables that bit more.

BUNTING WINS CHESHIRE OPEN
hello everyone, just got back from cheshire with the £700 winners cheque and i am over the moon. i also won the mixed pairs with michelle jackson. in my singles i beat douggie smith in the final. it was best of nine and i was 3-1 down and won the next four legs...
i played awesome all day, in the last 8 i beat robbie kong green 3-1 and at 1-1 i checked out on 130. in the semi i played steve mcnally and in the first leg of the best of seven contest i checked out a 157.

5TH JUNE 2005
BODDINGTONS AVEBURY 4-ASIDE
the swan pubs team from liverpool battled through in southport to qualify for this event today in manchester. with a team consisting of stephen bunting, alan green, joe palfreyman, steve mcnally, steve bunting(CAPT) and lee palfreyman who did not attend due to illness. everyone else travelled down to manchester. there were 16 teams in the tournament and the format was pairs, singles and 4 aside. i paired up with alan green and steve mcnally and joe palfreyman paired. we played well all day and in the final we played a team from cheadle and won 4-0.alan green took out a vital 115 to take us 3-0 up. we got £1000 between us and a nice trophy each.

20TH-22ND MAY 2005
WELSH OPEN
BUNTING + GREEN WIN PAIRS
i travelled down to sunny prestatyn on the friday morning with alan green and we had the pairs tournament on friday night. first round we played phil nixon and scraped through 3-2, as they say 'the first is always the hardest'. this saying wasnt exactly correct because second round we played daniel and pascal van mourik the young talented dutch rising stars. we won 3-1 but had to play extreemly well to overcome the van mouriks who have a big future in darts. we played a few more games winning 3-0 and then we found ourselves in the last 16 playing steve mcnally and dave blackburn. i played superb in this game scoring no less than 100 every go. we won 3-0. last 8 we played john snijers and ross montgomery and me and alan cruised through 3-0 playing well together again. semi final and we played mark salmon and kevin thomas we were 1-0 down and they hit a 180 and started dancing, alan said to me score big and dance so i hit a 180 and danced it put them off and we won 3-1, it was funny. in the final we played gary anderson and gary robson who missed loads of doubles and we won 3-1. alan and me received £200 each and were very happy. we celebrated in style and i couldnt remember going back the chalet...
in the singles i lost 3-2 to steve coote in the last 128, furthest player fom merseyside was alan green last 32 beaten by brian derbyshire.

firstly i got beat 6-3 by tony west, i had a 29.23 ave.
second game i beat bobby george 6-3 with a 28.84 ave.
last group game i beat shaun greatbach 6-3 with a 27.66 ave.
i topped my group and went through to play niels de ruiter. shaun greatbach got second in the group and also went through.
last 16
got beat by niels de ruiter 6 sets to 1. i have the highest finish in the tournament with a 170.
i was happy with my performances as i have regained my confidence and my averages were a lot better than what i had been getting.

SWISS OPEN
10-13TH JUNE

not very much to talk about, got beat in the singles by bennie hoefnagalls from holland. played well but doubles missed. pairs last 32 with john henderson, we played well but got beat by dennis harbour and mark jones. a great game with not a leg over 17 darts. blind pairs i played with mirko from italy, he was a decent player but we got beat by the winners steve mcnally and walter in the last 16.

GRANITE CITY OPEN
travelled up to aberdeen on thursday to play an exhibition with john henderson and tony west in old meldrum. the evening went well and everyone enjoyed themselves i hope.
on the friday was blind pairs, i was drawn with wee kate and we got to the last 8. saturday was singles and i reached my board semi final, playing a young kid from scotland. his support was too overwhelming for me and he melted me in the heat 3-1. on the sunday was the pairs and i played with alan kilroe, we knocked out mike veitch and partner to reach the last 8 only to be beaten by andy murray and craig quinn. all in all the weekend was enjoyable and i will be there next year.

WELSH CLASSIC
a dissapointing day for me at the robin hood camp as i crashed out in the 2nd round to a lancashire A team player. i played well, but not well enough.
played with alan green in the pairs and we got to the last 8, playing really great darts we ran into andre brantjes and hans blijs who were in tip top form and they just pipped us 3-2.

BRITISH CLASSIC
won my first round quite comfortably but 2nd round i got beat. hit every treble under the sun but just couldnt finish and it cost me the match missing doubles. paul hogan won it beating gary anderson in the final.

BELGIUM OPEN
played thierry michaux in the first round and boy, can he play darts. he beat me 3-1 and i hadnt done anything wrong. my winning leg was in 14 darts, then thierry went 13,15,16 game over.
played the warm up singles and i played remco van eijden. remco had 130 left and i was on 170, he hit treble twenty, big twenty and big ten instead of the bull. i stepped up and hit the 170. remco never recovered and i finnished on 114 and 106 to go 3-0 up. remco won the fourth in 14 darts and i took the match on a 80 checkout to go into the semis.
semi final i played jarko komula. he went 3-0 up and i come back in 16,18,14 to go 3-3. last leg i won nearest the bull but wired bull for a 170 and jarko took out 80 for the match.
jarko went on to win the warm up singles.
